Mk1 Focus RS's

Hi all,
Been looking at these as Id love one, especially to take to Ford Fair this year and have noticed the prices are all over the place

There seems to be no shortage of them in the market either.

Are they are buyer or sellers market at the moment? Are they easy to sell?

There also a few for sale on the vcar

Ideally a hpi clear car less than 75/80k would interest me

Just wanted some input

mattyharman May 15, 2013 02:40 PM

Plenty for sale matey.... Start from £6000 up looking at things

Kam B May 15, 2013 02:44 PM

yup

prices vary massively

£5k one on vcar - average miles
£6k low mileage vcar
£6.5k high mileage standard
£7.5k average milage standard
£8k modified
£9k heavily modded
£10k + mint low miles, or heavy mod list

condition varies massively, they all look the same in photos, so you need to see them in the flesh. some are neglected, some are immaculate.

usual rust spots:

front and rear arches
front wings where they meet bumper
under wing mirrors and on tailgate
sills and lower parts of rear arches

look for

signs of botched wiring
service history important
should come with 2 sets of keys, leather RS wallet, RS mats (unless seller is being tight)

they are great cars buty most are 10 years old now so do show age. interior wears well but alcantara can bobble and rip

theres so many out there now though you should be able to find a good one

So how is a low milage rs cheaper than a high milage rs :?

Some good advice given above....they do all look the same in pics as already said and often cleaner than they are so you really need to go check them out as there are plenty of dogs out there!
Everyone will tell you they're a 6k car now etc but in reality the good ones still go for strong money (9k+) and people who aren't fussed on having an 'average' higher mileage example will buy up the cheap ones (6/7k ers).
What's your budget?
Great cars though if you get a good one, buy on condition first and mileage 2nd :)

HarryRS May 15, 2013 05:28 PM

Your quite close to me mate my mint Focus Rs will be up for sale soon 330 bhp! 03 plate but has considerably low mileage after £8700!

Zetecfiesta May 15, 2013 06:25 PM

Nah you don't have to buy it mate I mean give you a perspective view of one.

As its easier to see with a car infront of you what to look out for then explaining it :)

Kam B May 16, 2013 03:34 PM

I bought mine in November last year mate. It's 52 plate. Had 44k on it when I bought it.
Totally standard car in every way. Usual stone chips etc. paid £7500 for it.
So you should be able to get a nice car for that no probs.
