focus knocking
I got my 2004 focus tdci sport lowered last night but now have a terrible knocking coming from the front which sounds mainly the passenger side.
The springs i used were spax 35mm although i dont no the exact model of focus they are for. The back is sitting what i would say 35mm however the front is sitting slightly lower maybe 45-50mm which i would say is due to the extra weight of the diesel lump. There is no play anywhere and everything is nice and tight The knocking only occurs when going over bumps. Has anybody else experienced the same when lowering there foci |
Sounds like its probably the Front anti roll bar making contact with the chassis
|
How can I stop that. It dosent seem to be catching anywhere

You need to get longer drop links, best to go for 40mm longer ones. Ask a garage which ones are 40mm longer than Focus ones. It will prob be ones for a different make of car
|
Cheers for that mate il look into it :)

No prob, i had the same problem after lowering. I heard the knock when going over bumps, thought maybe shocks where shot, so got new ones, but still same knock. My links kept breaking their ball joints. That's when i noticed little dents in the chassis exactly in the line of travel of the Roll bar and links

Thanks for the advice I'm going to have a closer look tonight. Where abouts did you buy your longer drop links from. Is it something I can get from my local motor factors :)
|
I know the guy in my local garage, so i just took my links off, and took one down, and just visually compared them to a bunch of links that were lying around. Then bought the pair off him which looked about 40mil longer. So not sure which make and model sorry

After a bit of searching it seems that astra g drop links are longer. The vaux boys use focus mk1 drop links when going low on coilovers apparently because they need shorter drop links on the astra
|
New longer drop links fitted and no more knocking from the arb.
Thanks again mate for the advice |
No problem, which ones did you get?
|
Dont no to be honest. I just took my old 1 down my local motor factors and asked for slightly longer ones. Thanks again buddy :)
