Default Focus gears to close together

Hi everyone just brought myself a little 2001 1.6 focus as a run around because I don't wanna use my cossie everyday. Got a little problem with the gears that 1st and 3rd are very close together, it goes in gear fine but you can't feel the different between the two untill you lift the clutch lol. Is there any way of altering them so there a bit more apart?

Thank

not quite sure what your on about to be honest and of course you wont feel any difference with your foot on the clutch

are you on about the gear stick possition???

does the gear stick return to centre when you put it in neutral?? if not then a return spring is broken and needs replacing, think its an easy job though on the ib5.

Yes on about the gear stick possion, the gear stick dose return to the center fine its just if you want to put the stick from center to 3rd instead of just pushing it stright forward you have to push it to the left then forward as if your putting it into first, basically 1st and 3rd feel like there almost in the same possition.

to me that sounds like a return spring has gone in the lever mate. if when in neutral you push it straight forward its going into 5th isnt it?
