focus st170 vvt problem
hi just got a focus st170 and it does not feel like it has a power boost and pulls hard till 5500 rpm. i am thinking the timing belt was replaced due to a oil leak on the cams and the vvt unit is not timed right, i asked my local ford dealer for the setting for the vvt unit and just got a blank look ....... does any one know ??? just wants some idears befor i pull it to bits done plenty of zetecs but not st170 vvt ...thanks

The VVT on the ST170 does not "Kick" in, it is progressive so you will not feel it at all. What you should feel is a noticable surge and change in engine note when the inlet manifold runners switch at 5500rpm. If your lacking power after 5500rpm then something is wrong with the inlet manifold runner control or there is a fuel starvation problem, the fuel pumps are weak on the ST170. I would go with a manifold problem.
