Default st170 manifold heat shield

hi all. just wondering if the heat shield on the manifold is really needed? i have heat wrapped my manifold and used the sealant/paint in black to finish it off. looks smart but dont really want to put the heat shield back on. do you all think it will be ok without? its not going to melt the fans or anything? its an st170 btw.

thanks jim

No need if you have wrapped it, loads of people remove the heat shield and run not wrap and never have a problem
