16's on an ST170?

Had a search but couldn't find the answer - could 16" alloys fit over the front brakes of a 2002 ST170? I know they come with 17" alloys as standard but it's a personal preference :)

If so, what's the minimum offset they would need to be to clear the calipers?

Thanks

Yes, a 16" rim will fit over the ST170 front calliper, after all thats the diameter of the 'orange' spare wheel.

The offset is really more critical to handling in keeping the contact patch reasonably centred on the steering axis, its really the profile of the back of the wheel which as with any calliper is the issue.

The Focus Zetec 16"x6J, ET52.5 is OK, and you can get away with Cougar 16"x6.5J, ET45.

It'll be a case of some wheels will, some wheels wont.. RS7's won't without spacing, and then some wheels simply wont clear at all. You'll have to test!

Thanks for the replies, I was more worried about it clearing the caliper than anything else.

these fit no problem with the bigger mondeo calipers on 300mm discs
