Default MK1 Focus 1.8 TDI Heater Problems

Hi guys my trusty old focus has just developed a heater fault that i need some help with. It only blows out luke warm heat when you are driving but when stationary it is vertually cold. Temp gauge sits in the middle and i have noticed that after driving for a short while the radiator fan comes on. Coolant level is as it should be and its not losing any. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Fucked water pump or a blockage in the system gets my vote. Don't believe the temperature gauge they sit bang in the middle between 60 and 100 degrees so may well be overheating.

As above but I'd add the thermostat to the list.

The engine temperature sensor is not a water sensor on these, instead it is a metal to metal sensor and sits in a blind hole in the head.
