Focus 1.8 TDCi - Won't start - Help!
Hi all,
Basically, I've got a 2004 Focus TDCi (85,000 miles), The car used to start fine, but over the last few months (this winter) its been geting harder to start and rarely starts first time (without giving it a little accelerator to get it going), the last time I used the car was 2 days ago, and it started, but seemed to make a meal of it.
However I came to use it today and it wouldn't start, at all. I turn the key and it sounds like the engine is going to start for a brief second, then nothing happens and there's just a ticking sound and oil light flickers constantly then nothing (I've check the oil level and its fine).
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Could be the starter motor or the battery, the injectors won't fire unless the engine is being turned over at 750rpm or higher. See if you can get the battery checked as although the sluggish rate of turn over does seem like a duff battery it can be that the starter motor is giving up.

Cheers for the speedy reply!!
I took the battery out gave it an overnight charge, altho the charger said it had 50% charge, when I fitted it back in the car the next day, it started fine and has been fine since Thursday (touch wood!). So seems like it might be crisis averted (phew ) for the time being!
Once again Uruk Hai, thanks for the reply!!
