Focus 6 Speed Gearbox
Hi,
Were there ever any MK1 focus diesels with a six speed box? Or were there any MK2 focus diesels that had the 1.8 8v endura type engine that had 6 speed boxs? I have an 04 plate transit connect that has a bigger intercooler, Hybrid turbo and a re-map, but the thing now has so much torque and power, it pulls to the rev limmit in 5th with ease. So I would like a six speed box that will bolt to the engine so i can save some fuel when crusing on the motorway. Cheers |
Nope. Do you know what the final drive ratio of your box is? It's possible (if not that likely) that there's a longer final drive available.

My TDCi could do with an extra gear too. I thought about getting a 6speed box from a Cmax 1.8 TDCi... but I would need an expert opinion first and some money...

was also looking at this..... 6 speed would be handy on motorways too.
Or having a taller 5th gear. Lots of reading and input still needed though. |
I have a 2002 focus tdci. I blew the diff so had to get a new gearbox. I found one with the same gear selector mechanism and it was fitted with a valeo solid flywheel kit. Turns out the new gearbox is from a transit connect and now revs quite high relative to before, due to the different axle ratio. The focus axle ratio was (if I remember correctly) 3.67:1 but the connect is 4.07:1 so you need far more revs on the connect gearbox to maintain the same road speed. I think I'm reving about 500 rpm more at 70.
I guess you could use this to your advantage on the connect. Put the focus box in and you'll have better top end. |
