focus tdci turbo failure??

focus tdci turbo failure??
hi all,
as above blowing out loads of smoke out exhaust and lot of engine oil in intake pipes between turbo and intercooler,
turbo knackered?
possible to repair?
is it just o-rings that seals it?
turbo seems to be part of exhaust manifold,
had a look at prices and seem quite expensive for new one,
its a mates car and hes hoping i can fix it as cheaply as possible,
its an 03 plate,
any help much appreciated

just wondering here,
i drive a 06 model 1.6 tdci focus van,
the other day i noticed a big puff of white (ish) smoke out the back of it but it wasn't prolonged,
could this be the start of a failing turbo?
