heated screen info mk1.5 focus

had a small chip on the screen the other day , a few mm accross...now that whole side of the screen doesnt heat

does one chip really stop the whole side working ? or might it have done a fuse ??

any help...was loving the heated screen too

I believe It will stop it from working as its broken the element in the glass, no more to it than that sadly.

Take the scuttle panel off (don't break the clips) and check the wiring connections on the passenger side. Not uncommon for them to corrode and come off. Could be a coincidence as if shouldn't stop the whole element working.

Highly unlikely that a stone chip a few mm across will stop a screen heating element from working. They're a lot tougher than light bulb elements and encased in the laminate, not free hanging. It's more likely to be a coincidence as Richie says, and either be a fuse or relay, or the connection.

yeah thats what i was thinking...no doubt the chip may have broken one or two strands but surley its wired in such a way that it can the odd bit of small damage

is it fused each side?

_Jimmy_ 26-02-2016 09:26 AM

Yeah there's a fuse for each side
