Give it him back, as in ram it through his fucking front window. I've bought stuff that has turned out to be shit before and it totally makes you lose trust in buying things

Contact him and tell him your problems, you never know a refund might be up for discussion.
What makes you so sure he knowingly sold you a bad car?

well hes told me is was "sound" and was looked over by a mechanic of sum sort a blind one maybe ???

it looks like its been attcked by a obseive wire cutter every wire in that engine bay has been cut and wired back up with tape !! well nearly all the battery to altinator cable was the worse left hangind and welded it self to the turbo !

the fan was on constant which ive bin told could have been dun to stop it over heating

and he still insists it was perfect when i got it it definatlly wasnt boosting properlly coz i didnt just as i pulled away and thought it was strange

and they are lil bits like when i toke the rocker cover off the tappets were in bits broke and the lifters tightened down solid wrnog size nuts etc

there was a grinding noise from the wheel which has got worse so he must have know that parts of the engine ie head, manfold etc was lose and had play

enigine had 2 bolts holding it in !!!! thats it and a diff gear box

ok i mite be being a bit of a moaner but i have waited along time to work my way up to a rs paying shit loads for insurance etc and then get bumm fooked by this dude

he just could have been plain honest i would have saved a 200mile trip and being stuck with a shitter

Thats pish mate, a know how you feel cos I have been stung big time before. Don't loose faith though, I just bought an outstanding S2 with genuine 36k miles and everything to prove S/H old MOT's etc for Ł3500, so there are lots of bargains out there

Not taking sides here but thinkgs like the fan being on constantly you would have know about when looking over the car surely?! and you didn't take it for a test drive when getting it to know it wasn't boosting properly?
In a way I guess its "sold as seen" or "swapped as seen" in your case

Sorry mate but I'd have given it a proper going over before doing the deal or get someone who knows what they are looking at! to late now I know! just break it up for spares and make some cash back if it's that bad!

Mate, we've all been there in one way or another. The trouble with these cars is that they can look really nice on the outside and be hiding some very nasty things in the not so visible places!

I don't think your a mug, but whichever way you look at it, you live and learn

its hard when buying a new motor, or swapping in your case. you sort of get your heart set on it before you get there. and you do over look things and its not until you get it home, do you realise whats wrong.

i brought mine by only looking at photos, and my mates judgement. as it was quite a long way to drive just to view it. it payed Ł900 for mine with a engine that was blowing the oil cap off and not ticking over. me thinking it was either a blocked breather pipe, or blown rings, i said yes and sent money to my bro who brought it for me,
it wasn`t till i got it to my place and had a good look round it, i found out what it was, 2 cracked pistons but i was told the engine was standard, which it turned out not to be, so i was lucky in away, that i had good news and some bad news when i brought mine.

with yours mate, if your having all these problems and you have had enough, then strip it.

If it was me, id keep it, TBH its not rocket science to take a rsturbo engine out and replace it, can be done in a day, theres normally lots of engines about, if its just a case of a headgasket change, its a piece of piss, At least if u fix it, it will be done proberly, and give u that piece of mind,

if not u could buy another and had the same problem.

also nowadays, rst's have lots of miles on them and require a rebuild at some point, so bite the bullet rip the lump out, buy yourself a diesel for the winter, a build a good solid lump.

to be honest mate i was sold a shitter a few years ago looked clean on the outside and paid Ł3000 up front without even looking under the bonnet thats how badly i wanted a turbo but the gearbox went within a month, the sills had rotted away basically the whole car was a rot spent ŁŁŁŁ trying to get it sorted out but their were always problems with it at the end sold it for just a grand but now i have a clean rst which i looked at properly before buying it you always learn from your mistakes

save up about 1500 quid, get your self a fully reconditioned unit from power enginering or another reputible company, switch to efi (for reliability although not 100% necessary) get it all in and running about 200 bhp (this seems to be a reliable figure.)
and enjoy the car.

with 1500 you could proberbly get a 2.0 zetec with lower compression (this can bedone by machining the head) and running your existing management and turbo.

if your loom foocked get a replacement at Ł100 max.

the best thing about the rs is its so simple, im still at school, never been to a mechanics coarse or anything, and ive changed rs engines and done nearly every engine job on one apart from rebuilding the bottom end and ive done this with knowlage ive picked up over the years and a hynes manual.

give up on your current shite engine and get a new one in !!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm the bad guy that swapped with jay that your all talking about.
He went out in the car when we swapped
There was nowt wrong with it as I drove 200miles to meet up with him
All I've had off him is this is fucked that is fucked most all service parts ie fuel filter that was changed 1 month before he got it
it was regauly serviced using mobil 1 never ratled smoked or never fucked about not holding boost.
He fucked about with the timing so this could be the cause of the misshap he told me this himself in a pm.
Ive seen the advise people have given him on here and he has'nt listened to any of ya about getting the timing sorted.
I've had 3 Rs turbos so have had a bit of experience with them alright I'm no mechanic but you know when your car is fucked don't ya!
As for the scrapping it was rear brake shoes I told him this on the day.

Don't also believe he swapped a minter because the RS2K was also full of faults too.
But life goes on.
As for the reason for swapping the RS2K was my old car!
I would have bought it off him any way if he did'nt want to swap.
But in my eyes he got a better deal as the S2 was worth more money anyway

I'm sorry things have'nt gone to plan for him but thats life of owning an RS turbo
Just out of intreast though the people that think they are big and hard that are saying Shove it through his window and we must know where he lives can shove it up there arse as at the end of the day Jay wanted the car and he chose to swap.

But he wants to make his mind up whats wrong with it though as 1st its the dizzy then the fan then the head gasket otr thermostat and now he has just informed me it was the turbo at fault
Yes I feel he has'nt had the best of look with it and I would'nt want to wish it upon any 1
But at the end of the day Jay wanted the car Badly

Reason being mate I was after a mondeo st24 at the time as it was a bigger car until I saw my old RS2K up for a swap for a red S2 turbo so I enquired and Jay wanted my turbo.
Was'nt too bothered about swapping though as I would Have bought it off him and kept the turbo anyway.

Just always liked my white RS2K I suppose
There was none of the probs wrong with it when I owned the turbo if there had been I would have told him
As you can see from his ebay add the car ran perfectly in his own words.
