Don't have one of these, but can give a little help.

Alternator heavy duty is via starter motor and also will have a blue wire.

Starter solenoid I think will be black, the others (in the absence of a diagram) you could confirm using a test light or meter.

I’ve found this little blue wire but it has a bullet connector on it and not a ring connector

from ex Auto sparks...The Alternator has the Large heavy wire on it from Starter main battery supply, the Blue thin wire is alternator "Field excite/Warning light", The only 2 wires on Metering head are for the "Pressure actuator" the colurs hear in the plug are "Brown" & "Black/yellow" The Starter solenoid small excite terminal wire is "Black/yellow", this circuit is know as circuit 50, and is used more on the "Bosch "K" & "KE" systems, other wires you mention I have in my notes from back too many changes over the years, so should come to light when car running and what wires left, Temp Dash gauge wire will be clear to see , as on thermostat housing near exhaust, UNLESS your talking about the Injection system Temp sensor, then it will be "Yellow plug" 2 wires "...Brown & Brown/green". hope of help. Peter.

Yes that Red/yellow is the Temp gauge, over the years the sensors did change from Spade to Round terminals.... once your up and running, any faulse readings on temperature will be down to the sensor being the incorrect one for the CVH engine, there colure coded, so other owners on hear could help hear re - correct one....I cant remember now. Pete.

Horn is red and yellow, same 'double tracer' as per post in temp sender thread. I don't recall seeing any single-tracer wires but not looked too far.
Good idea to get the haynes manual ford escort petrol sept 1980 to sept 1990. It seems to agree with all my wiring so far.
