Default coil wiring

hey,
was doing some running in in my s2 at the weekend and all was well. whilst parked on my drive cool down for 10 min it cut out. I had a quick look about and found that the green wires coming from the coil which are joined together by a black block we're shorting out. I have read somewhere this is just a suppressor for the rev counter? I've also read that upgraded coils don't have this wiring anyway? so my question is could I remove this wiring on the coil and all be well or am I best to upgrade to a better one ?
thanks lads

It's a suppressor for the radio, I have known some to remove it.

You could make another using a capacitor.

FM radio is more immune to noise than AM.

ah could be probs why my radio has never worked then? is it just a case of popping the plug off the top of the coil?
