Default help setting up the throttle body

the previous owner of my rs did not setup the tps correct and the car runs idle at 1100 rpm regardless the idle screw adjustment and pops in the exhaust when turned off.

Today I took all the components off the throttle body for a clean and a fresh setup. On the left hand side there is a small adjustable thread with a locking nut on it that holds the base setup of the throttle. I adjusted this so that it just touched the lever when the throttle is shut. Then I placed the tps back and listened carefully to make sure that in base setup it clicks, when the throttle lever is moved slightly it clicks. Adjusted the idle screw but could not get it to idle properly not even with the idle screw almost all the way out.
Then i decided to adjust the thread that holds the base position of the throttle lever, which resulted in re-adjusting the tps and then I was able to get the car to idle at 950ish rpm. I checked the timing with a light and set it to 12 degrees.

Now i'm curious if I done this correctly or that I missed important steps. I cannot find any good use for the adjustable throttle lever as that gives you the option to not completely close the throttle. And by adjusting the base of the throttle lever the tps adjustment went to its max.

please advice.

My advise would be, this time at least. Have it tuned by a specialist, stand over their shoulder and watch what they are doing. Some wouldn't mind

Thanks for the suggestion, but the last time it was tuned by a "specialist" it required an engine rebuild after the rolling session... So I do not have the biggest faith in the specialists in my country (the Netherlands).

And yes very little posts in a lot of years. I've been an enthousiast for years but could never afford a proper ford that was worth mentioning here. So I just read for hours in the project board.
