camshaft

In theory any cam will work. But in this case it is not recommended since the N/A cams will have alot of overlap on them compared to a turbo camshaft, which will make your car suffer in driveability.

Do Newmans only do solid lifter cams or can they do hydraulic items as well? I am aware that Solid lifters can bring about more accuracy with valve timing etc but I don't really want to be forever adjusting them, especially when there is pipework to remove on a CVH (yes, I am lazy!).

I may have to do this despite a newish Piper Cam :'(.

If done properly, the newman solids only require setting up once.

How long have Newmans Been doing Cams for the CVH? Ive known they've been doing them since roughly 2008 when I 1st heard about them. I ask because my S2 has an unknown 'high lift' cam as an ex mechanic of mine told me, Its packs a punch mid rev range, but low range its a tad 'lumpy'.

To be honest you can make good power on cheap cams now and they last well. As well as other more expensive cams if the engine is set up right. Solid is a good cam but a lot of dosh but set right do last well 😆

Always a pleasure!
It's not about making power, it's about material quality and reliability, most cam's these days end up in bits in the sump taking out your engine along the way... the Newman is the only one I will fit and even then I've seen one fail a few years ago.

Agree with this totally. You'd be silly to believe Newmans are far from failsafe, but they are the best of a bad bunch

Is there any truth in the 1.4 mfi cams (OE FORD) work in the rs turbos, think it may have been jano who said they were about the same camshaft on here moons ago
