Mtx shifter in rs turbo pic please

Anyone got a pic of the position of the shifter mounted in either the mk3 or mk4 please? I want to paint the underside of the car but don't want to do it until I've welded a plate with threaded inserts over the original hole! I've got the shifter but not the cables yet so can't see the correct position.
Thanks :DD::DD:

I hope these help mate, the way I did it was I sat the gear selector in place then fixed centre console into its original holes, positioned selector to where I wanted it to sit, removed console and drilled n fixed selector into place.

Can you still keep the centre console with the mtx gear selector?

RUBY123 13-12-2014 01:35 PM

no the shifter sits to high. well you could but you would have to cut lots out of it and would look a mess

rsbondy 13-12-2014 03:01 PM

Yes u can keep the centre console, only a small part needs cut out near the front of selector surround, can see it in my first pic and once gators on its hardly noticeable :-)

RUBY123 13-12-2014 03:05 PM

the gaiter wont fit over the mtx shifter the standard one anyway.

rsbondy 13-12-2014 03:21 PM

No not in standard form no but slightly modified because of the lift up reverse yes! Nothing is a straight forward fit, mtx wasn't made for these cars, need to roll the sleves up n make it fit fella. 👍

i ended up putting focus rs centre console in blends in quite well doesnt look to out of place

What cables are they ? as they look alot shorter than the ones I have. Yours fit alot better than mine.

Transit Connect cables are shortest/neatest.
