Default RS Turbo EFI - Boost and Idling Issues

Hi All,

Having a bit of bother with one of my cars.

Its a Fiesta RS Turbo EFI engine in an escort and running OFAB on a T3

It is having some problems which are beginning to drive me mad, Would appreciate any help i can get with them

- Idles Poorly, sounds really lumpy, Cleaned the ISCV and it got a bit bitter but still lumpy

- When on boost it picks up fine but as soon as you got flat out in any gear the car starts kangarooing, (lunges back and forward but boost pressure doesnt appear to change on the gauge) but is really violent till you let your foot off the gas

Car isn't chipped , Any ideas?

You've fitted a bigger turbo and no chip to fuel for it so my guess is you are dangerously lean!
You need to fit at the very least Beige injectors and a chip to suit those injectors and a T3.

I tried turning the boost down to 3 or 4 psi and it is still doing it, I wouldnt have thought it would have needed chipped if it was running low boost and standard injectors?

Not sure about the kangarooing, most likely to be fueling.

On the lumpy idle, check the crank case breather filter isn't clogged up and that the vacuum pipework from the inlet manifold to it is clear.

Mentalasanything, funny you should say that as it pops the dip stick out all the time, could this be a blocked breather then?

Yes it would, the T3 is a lot bigger than the original T2 and so flows much more air at the same boost pressure.

If once you've checked the breather system it is still blowing the dipstick out then you may have high crank case pressure (worn rings perhaps).

EFI isn't like MFI mate, there is not really anything to setup as such, idle CO and base fuel pressure are the only adjustments available (these could of course be miles out), beyond that it's a remap.

I noticed it had a t3 fitted and wondered if it had been setup since as in fueling checked etc. If your not 100% its always worth getting it checked/setup properly imo

I know this is an old post, but i have the same issues and wondering if a 165 Chip or something similar really does just sort most of it out with the CO set up etc, as it seems really off to me.
