turbo's!
hi guys, im currently building a mk3 track spec escort and I have two T3 turbo's, one from an rs which I bought for spares and another from my original engine.
the original unit is a turbo technics stage 2 which is 50/.36 trim.
I stripped the second unit to find a massive crack in the exhaust housing and a damaged turbine wheel, I measured the compressor wheel at .59 so basically my question is would it be a good idea to put the larger compressor wheel on to my good turbo or would this make it to laggy???
my engine is a decent spec 1600cvh on mfi, although I have the option of a 1.8 zvh from the spare car but after a lot of reading on here I think I would rarther stick with the cvh for now.
thanks

Thanks for your reply karlos!. I've used the compressor housing from the other turbo so if it was your engine would you go for the bigger compressor wheel or stick with the stage 2 turbo?. I'm not chasing massive bhp I just want a decent track car. Cheers

Ask me a question!

Decent track cars dont have large turbo's with loads of lag in general. If you want a quick and responsive engine then you should use a 2wd comp housing and wheel for the likes of CVH with MFi or 4x4 comp and housing for an EFi converted engine or at least an engine that has a decent spec to make it worthy.
Having a bigger turbo wont always be the best thing.

If i'm saying it correct you will try to put more fresh air in and staying on a small turbine housing will give too much backpressure causing you to go out of your compressor map.
Only thing would be good is to go bigger for exh housing too, but with current spec its making it laggy
