Cut back blades slow down response too, when I researched it every tuner I spoke to said run a 2wd cosworth turbo rebuilt with 360 bearings and would flow a genuine 270bhp and be a lot more responsive than a stage 3 t3

Plus it may say on the net that a stage3 t3 will flow 280bhp but in over 10years of being in the ford scene I've never seen a 1600cvh get near it with one fitted, only ever on a zetec turbo

They make more like 250/ 260 at a push and isn't as responsive as a standard 2wd t3

I got a mint 4x4 t3 for £150 for my zt
Sure j1mbo ghats flowed stage3@ that

I think it's best to get a better turbo before I put my bigger injectors and new ecu on, and then get it all done at once?
Cheers
If going for cosworth turbo, don't go with cutback blades

i would say dont get it, but if its a very good price and a very good spec and condition then i would make go for it, that would be a 300bhp turbo aslong as you have a worked head and decent cam set up and maybe a decent inlet

Similar spec to mine but I am contemplating switching to a standard cam profile...i have messed about with the cam timing which made things a bit better but still turbo doesn't come on till a bit late.

You don't mention manifolds but decent inlet and exhaust manifolds will see faster spool up times, lower running temps and the same power at lower boost levels than if you were using standard ones.
A reliable 300bhp is not a phrase you can really associate with a CVH... At that power cracking blocks is very very common and cam failures (Yes, even with Newmans).

It's having a Crazycage exhaust manifold and inlet is a modded s1 inlet .

I think 270 is going to be more realistic .

In this day and age you should be running something like a GTX2860 and not an ancient T3.

i was thinking about one of them for my 2.1 zetec turbo matt.is it just a problem with the 1.6 cvh or is it a fault in the turbos them selves?

im only after 300/350 bhp

James a 6258 will work on a cvh but your right the cvh isn't worth the money as a zetec will do so much better with half the money thrown at it

Yep
Rods, Pistons, frs gasket and bolts, dd valve springs and you got an engine that will be ok upto around 350/400bhp

Then it’s just cams and head work after that

The 6258 works Great on a Zetec and not so well on a CVH as ive learnt .. if it's the power of 300/350 then the Zetec is a no brainer ..i bought a forged Zetec with all the right bits for 550 and theñ decided I wasn't going to cut and weld a bracket on the inner wing of the mint shell so opted to spunk a lot of money of getting a cvh forged etc ..youre xr3i/turbo on the other hand that would be having a Zetec if It was mine ..there a fantastic engine once tuebod
