s1 rs turbo only runs with flap held down. ?

What is causing this. Week pump maybe. ? Needs setup now but need to be able to drive it to Essex for that to happen. Stacey

What 'flap' are you talking about, the throttle?

Do you mean the metering unit flap ? if so is there a air leak check all boost hoses for a split , dump valve diaphram , check the idle screw is there (ive had one of them fall out & it wouldnt start ) the flap sucks down but if there is a big air leak it wont pull down & give the injectors fuel. Ive not worked on a rs turbo for years but had my fair share of trouble with them lol

I dont miss my mfi escort turbo's lol i had the same problem on one and i couldnt figure it out! was taken off the road for a zetec turbo conversion and lost interest! Hopefully its something simple and you get it sorted mate
