xr3i to rs turbo??
hi all not sure if this is in the right place but im new here and looking for some advice. i have a really clean xr3i mk4 mfi but the engine is tired and needs rebuilding.
i am seriously considering changing the engine to a rs turbo so its a little more exciting.
does any one here know the procedure to do this or what parts of a rs turbo i will need.??

Hi done this to my escort a few years back there is a lot you need to change over your need everything under the bonnet including the wiring loom etc your best off finding an rs with rear end damage then just pull everything out of it and transfer it into yours its not an easy job as most of the car will need rewiring.

That one I cant really awnser as my car at the time was off the road so I was in no big rush to get it finished I had mine all finished and set up within a year , there are some companys that will do it for you but It wont be cheap as its not just a strait engine swop yor best off having a shop around and get a few prices , I know some companys wont do it unless you already have the parts as they dont want the hassle searching around for them.

Would you recommend a certain company or mechanic? Sorry to ask stupid questions just trying to get my head around it

not sure on the companys that will do it a few other guys my be able to point you in the right direction i know that power engineering used to but there not as good as they used to be or you have me and a few mates lol ,the parts ur need will be the wiring loom a complete engine with turbo an exhaust system the gearbox (you might be able to get away with using your 3i gearbox for a while) the radiator and intercooler some of the pipe work the fuel meetring unit both the engine and fuel ecu's your need to change the brakes inc the calipers as the xr3i discs are 240mm and the rs is 260mm plus varoius sensors etc iv proberly missed a few bits but there alot to list

ive done the conversion loads and its loom metering head sometimes fuel lines the fuel pump ok mounts for the brain and black box rad intercooler its a lot of work fastest ive done it is 5 days driving s1 in and 1.1 mk3 escort to running done a couple of bonuses as wel as 2 estates and a s1 van i would consider 2.0 zetec ive been doing the conversions for years had a mag feature to sept 2010 fastford my rs1600i rep was on front cover
