You need only the ST170 discs mate, then MK3 Mondeo pads, calipers and 12mm spacers.

You need to drill out the hubs to take the bigger bolts, but the rest should just bolt on

Remove your callipers and trial fit the other brakes, remembering to use some wheel nuts to hold the disc firmly in place. And if every ting works you only need to sort out the brake pipes and bleed the buggers and job done

Mmm just annoying as I was told these were a straight fit, I'm not one to do my own work on my car and there's no chance of getting it done by FF!

Joe, its not alot of work m8... Just drill the holes out and bolt the 12mm spacers and calipers on... Standard hoses fit - altho as you are upgrading it would be a good idea to swap them for braided hoses

why do you need to make a bracket when the ford stuff just bolts into place?

I don't remember using spacers on my ST170 conversion at all, are you sure they aren't Mondeo V6 brakes you have?

I might be way off the mark though as mine were done about 6 years ago.

12mm spacer are 100% needed or the calipers will not be central on the discs, in fact the discs probably wouldnt even go on! lol

What do the brackets do though? Are they the same as spacers or do i not need spacers with brackets? Sounds dumb but i dont have a clue!

Does it make any difference that im using ST170 calipers, St170 disks and pads? Does it still mean i need the spacers as i know alot of you have used mondeo discs pads and calipers etc because they are cheaper?

Joe

i simply fitted the stuff directly from the mondeo so it needed a little "fettling" to fit, but had i used the st170 discs they would have been a direct fit with no grindage required

also, i've been redrilling discs for years with no problems whatsoever as there is plenty of metal left between the studs, you just have to use a proper drill in a proper drill press and have a useable template to drill the holes in the correct places (i simply cut off the face of a 4 stud disc and then fitted it to a hub to centre it all up before drilling each hole AND i put bolts in to make sure the holes didn't move while i was drilling the next one)

the mondeo calipers are far more readily available and cost a fraction of the st stuff, but discs i would always advise to buy new, the ones i used had only done a few thousand miles and the calipers had been totaly overhauled so everything was tried and tested and working but if you were to get second hand stuff form the likes of ebay i would always recommened a rebuild just to be on the safe side

Mk3 mondeo calipers, pads and the correct spacer kit obviously.

I would guess the same as the mondeo stuff, its just the mondeo stuff is easier to get hold of and the calipers have a larger piston so more braking force!

If you have all the parts, mock fit it all up and see what needs modding to go where... It'll only be a case of spacing the caliper out by the correct amount (12mm with mondeo calipers - i dunno with the st170 ones) with a spacer plate or peices of thick wall steel tube.

I put st170 disc and calipers straight on. You only need the spacers with mk3 Mondeo calipers

Digging up and old on here but what about calliper bolts? Do you just use standard Mondeo stuff will it be long enough with a 12 spacer?
