Warm up regulator not working properly would cause this issue on a 3i, pretty sure the RS uses a similar set up so this may point you in the right direction. The cold start valve, i believe, sprays more fuel when cranking in low temps.

when i spoke to power engineering last week they told me that the brown thermotime sensor at the back of the inlet manifold controls fuelling to the cold start valve, and that it gives it about 3 seconds of fuel.
maybe worth a try replacing brown thermotime sensor.
its the one next to yellow sensor at back of inlet

I think the warm up regulator is the same thing as the thermo time switch (check Motorsports Developments guides). This controls the cold start valve and tells it to inject more fuel if required whn cold.

Mine works backwards to that lol.

First turn when cold (with foot on accelerator) but when warm whatever it try it takes 5 -10 seconds of cranking. still starts though, everytime. and it has a very expensive head on it so i'm hoping the fucker isn't warped before anyone mentions that

Mine was similar until I changed plugs to cosworth PP8. Starts first turn of the key with out touching the accelerator.

I've changed the thermo time switch and still no luck.. Next on my list is coil and leads, if that don't work then it's sell it or convert to efi and gotec stand alone management..

That seems like an expensive way of just getting it to start.

Why dont you take take it to somone that knows what they are doing first to determine the problem cos if it aint starting now it still may not start after going efi.
