i remember this i think there was an engine in a mk3 escort, from what i remember it said there were a few prototype 16v cvh engines made at boreham but the plug was pulled on the project and the engines were ordered to be destroyed but a few of the tecs 'looked after' a few of the parts, so if thats what u got there it is only the second one known in existance

..BS Motorsport..
Surely newman would be able to grind some cams up and followers? What else other than head gasket would be hard to source? Inlet manifold wouldnt be any more difficult than your current one for example. Suppose a bit of development would have to go in to the cams to know what profile works best with the different characteristics of the head. Makes you wonder why they didnt carry the programme on?

either way its never going to run again without ALL the bearing surfaces/follower guides being re-machined to get rid of all the pitting, a skim etc etc. its a good keepsake though

The Schrick 16-valve CVH complete engine was in a Mk3 Escort we featured on my last proper edition of - PF Jan 2009.
Proper car with an amazing bit of history under the bonnet.
The 16-valve design was produced by Schrick and presented to Ford only for Ford to say we've kinda already done it; "Look it's called the Zetec".
That basically killed their program off so they only had a handful of parts cast etc.
Over time the complete build of parts were 'removed' from the premises so to still have something from that event is extremely rare... and also as has been said, would be a pain to bring back to life, too.

The casting number X928M 6049 ? does look like a Ford number.
"6049" is certainly the Ford identification number for cylinder head casting/part numbers.
The inlet side does look experimental with the small and large intake valves, as well as the corresponding large and small inlet ports. A fuel economy design for sure.

don't think it would be much of a problem to have the bits made up
i had a set of billet cams and valves ,buckets made for my rovert16
had lot more lift on the cams i had to machine the head for bigger diameter buckets
so it can be done
it not that pitted a skim on the head face and the buckets diameter are clean
combustion chambers can be cleaned up ect
any one got any idea what it could be worth
thanks for the info so far
