Head a lot of bad things about Hi spec brakes to be honest mate! Some people have had good dealings but other people have been messed about from pillar to post and still not got a set of brakes that fit the car, never mind work!
Also, I just got a spanking new starter from Ford for £65 exchange but I get a big discount so it'd be about £80 without the discount. They need the old unit back though.

i will have to find out about the hi spec as i have ordered them and paid so
dont really want to cancel, to tell you truth, any brakes will be better
than the current ones, starter motor has not cost me ought as work has
an account at ribblesdale autos so put it on the account, there was not
any thing wrong with it but thought i would get it done whilst it was of.

I had a Ribblesdale refurbed starter but when it started to give me problems again I just went straight for a new one.

why, how bad was it, that gives me a sigh of relief knowing that any way,
i am enjoying it so far, even bought a new tool box, the only bit
that is going to get me stressed is the cutting out of the front with air
hacksaw to accomadate the intercooler,
there is a funny story about the intercooler but i do not know if to say
ought as some one on here could work for the company i got it of.

Ok:
Engine arrives and sits on crane awaiting work:
Start to strip it once on a stand.
Heads off... problems begin to surface...
Snapped studs in block. You can see the head gasket has been weeping here and thus corroded them badly.
Bearing swarf in teh oil pickup gauze.
VERY Badly worn bearings!!
Only JUST starting to mark teh crank journals.
Stripped now and major componets away for machine work.

get a junior hack saw and cut it were i cut mine then lift the piece up so its near vertical, paint the area u have cut with a touch up pen.
then cut the front grill
as shown cut the inside lugs off the front grill and away you go.
with hind sight i would have bent the lip DOWN so u dont have to cut the front grill.the reason i did this is so that at any time i can take the cooler out.bent teh lip back up 2 mins with a mig set to weld the split bit more touch up paint and u would never known i was there.

This is probably a good thread to read about a CVH rebuild and cost breakdown...

My copy oil pump seems to be doing it's job well enough at the moment. I will be having the new ECU monitor oil pressure though so if it does go fooked, the ECU will cut the engine, or what ever it gets set up to do..
