Escort First Start After Rebuild
Hey guys very happy with myself tbh. First time ever taking engine apart and putting back together. My old cam wore a lobe out and was only meant to have done 2500 miles anyway went bought another after all problems I had of putting engine back in, under car in snow etc, I finally got my new radiator today and started her up running cam in at 2500 revs for 20 mins sounds spot on, idles perfect etc but took her a little spin round block and she seemed to hold off a little. Fitted a front mount in process, so wondering if this is why? Or possibly ignition timing out? As new cam but put it where it was orignally (marked before removal), it going to tuners to be setup again after putting new components in but just thought Id see if I can make it run slightly better to get there as it a small drive to tuners. Thanks for any help!

Well done mate, good work!
If I were you set the timing a couple of degrees retarded from stock which is 12DBTC and the boost as low as possible until setup, not even worth playing around as you've put all the hard work in and would be a waste if it gets ruined.

thanks mate, was expecting to start and go bang pml I will do that then as you said dont want to ruin all my hard work. Especially after the amount of money I paid for rebuild from reputable tuner and now just had to go and rebuild top end as didnt want nothing to do with it

yeah loved it when a got it back from previous tuner but ended up an absolute nightmare (eg had solid cam and solid lifters picked it up very tappety that what put me off this time, tuners said supposed to be like that I took rocker cover off one arm was so loose I could hand screw the adjuster out, it was broken, so much for meant to be like this) among a vast majority of other things its going to sitech racing this time mate cant wait to have it back, not been on road since october.
