Default t3 turbo

ello ppl just a quick question

is it difficult to rebuild t3 turbo if i brought a rebuild kit,
the shaft on mine is moving like mad and the cars smoking like a chimley
or would it be easier to look for another one?

any advice would be great

IMO look for another as when it's gone even a repair kit may be no good if oversized bearings are needed.
a rebuild will cost around £300.

if you get stuck i've got a useble t3, standard rs turbo one, had housings off to check for play etc and minimal movement side to side, nothing in and out.

Not too difficult to do yourself mate.
Look on you tube. There's loads of how to videos.
Then send it off to be balanced which costs about £35.

if there is loads of movement, the chances are that the shaft or bearing races are scored/damaged, no rebuild kit alone will fix that.
the kits are for worn seals or bearings just starting to wear down.
not for completely knackered turbos, unless you can hone out new races and polish the shaft accurately.

ok cheers ppl, think il more than likely get another one, looks to me that its knackered, theres just far to much movement in the shaft, moves in and out up and down side to side so il go with the safer option and get another i think.

cheers
