Default Oil Return, Elbow pipe.

I currently have a samco elbow acting as my return, what i want to know it will it be ok temps wise, once the oil gets mega heated by the turbo is it gonna melt the silicone pipe and split?
If so... Is it possible to get this return elbow made up from samco or roose etc, with a heat resistant silicone...?

If it is fluoro lined it will be fine, if not then yes I know Roose do one, cheaper than the Ford one at £45 too!

Something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/22mm-Silicone-...5480c4fff77b3c
Not sure if 22mm is the correct diameter but you get the idea!

Cheers Karlos - I'll speak to them people, 180c is that gonna be a hot as the oil gets exiting the turbo? That the temp limit on that pipe.
Joe i saw that, and its a good deal but i'd rather a silicone/uprated part - fit and forget etc?

make sure you get this right mate.
i set my rs on fire using the wrong pipe.
the heat from the turbo melted the top of the centre of the return pipe and the oil caught fire setting my bay alight.

Yeah i had a brand new ford 1 split after 3weeks dropped 1/2 my sump all over the road, luckily enough it was 200yds from home... £65 on the hose down the drain!
Got a piece of samco on there atm, its holding up (longer than the ford shit) so far.

Just wanna replace it with something uprated and properly designed for the job, cause when i drive it atm it popping the bonnet when i stop to check the return. Piece of mind really!

Roger you need to use expanding clips to secure it, jubilee clips will make it split prematurely as they dont let the rubber expand normally with the heat.

I thought hot oil caused silicon to break down unless it Flurolined and you get silicon shit in your oil and eventually split? I think everyones covered the options though. I've got a new Ford one to go on.

Gonna look into a fluro lined silicone aswell...

My Roose return elbow arrived yesterday... Nicely made peice of hose, needs cutting to fit tho!?
Also its nearly 30mm outside diameter, so will fitting with jubilee clips suffice?

Pics...

Im half tempted to return it and run a Ford elbow... straight fit that way, no messing about!

Opinions?

I had exactly this problem.
The hose I got from roose was WAY too big and would be no good aat all with spring type clips. I used heavy duty julbilee clips (again from roose). I had to clamp them up so tight to get it to seal on the return pipe that the outer silicone was damaged. On my new build I will be going back to the ford item.

HTH

I didn't mean too big in length, the internal diameter of the pipe was too big, maybe 3mm, so on the metal return pipe it's fit was as snug as a jonny on a spent cock!

I had to cut mine down to get it to fit. But like I said, it was then a 'baggy' fit ID wise and not ideal for me jubilee clamped up.

Its 18mm id iirc and about 23-25mm od 90degree elbow, ring rouse and they have it on shelf ready to go in a range of colours!

Mines been on now for around 1,000miles as is fine! Altho the outer silicone layer is showing signs of melting lol!
