Good book on the subject called Rebuilding and Tuning fords cvh. Retails at about 18 quid or around a tenner on ebay, which normally has one. Tells you all about the job involved. Hope this helps.

TBH it depends exactly what you are going to re-build
If you litterally are just going to re-place the big ends then its a 20 min job
If you are gonna change the mains and re-grind the crank it gets a little more 'involved'
HOWEVER it is common sence really.. there is nothing dificult about re-building a CVH bottom end at all.. especially if your not taking the pistons out.. hell you dont even need to take the whole engine out!
If you tell me exactly what you are going to be replacing i will give you a step by stem guide to doing the job

WELL lol
its got mahle pistons in now and oversized to +0.05 (or something like that well what ive been told),(i dont really know the problem with bottem just know its knocking) so was going to replace shells main bearings and might have to regrind grank if scored but i dont think it will have span a shell like. so thats the plan but i been told its hard to find shells that are the size u need. ?? any info on that ?

If ya bottom ends knocking its not just a case of replacing shells.
To do the job right your crank will need regrinding and some oversize shells fitting.
A good engineering firm will mesure your crank and supply the correct shells.
When i recently rebiult my rs motor i did it with the previousley mensioned haynes rebuilding guide, well worth the money

as above if its 'knocking' then the crank is liekly to be 'ovaled' and will require a re-grind oversize bearings are available readily from most tuners (i know burton power stock them)
your best option is to take the crank to an engineering place and get them to re-grind and balance it (i had mine done by karl norris) they will then supply you the correct shells for the re-grind
