Rst no ignition lights

Hi all went to start my car this morning is started spluttered then cut out I thought it was cold so went to turn over then it had no dash lights at all!! This is second time last time I fiddled with few wires to starter then started , no luck this time could it be a bad earth??Can not see any breaks in wire

Bad live more likely, could well be faulty immobilizer if it's been fitted so it cuts the ignition feed altogether, what security setup do you have?

Do other electrical things work?

Yea got a toad mate trude all the usual suspects swapped starter to another had. Ok have another look mr norris not be happy if can not make it Thursday again!

Sorry nothing at all works except side lights when cuts out

martysmartie 07-12-2010 05:20 PM

As you have no power to ignition, there will be no power to the starter either, do other things work, and what does the alarm LED do, I.E extinguish, continue to flash etc?

It got total auto lock that does not work alarm is orange continuous as thin it does when start then to green! When decides to work the central lockin closes then opens The alarm is red when set

russ rs 07-12-2010 05:27 PM

Sorry not good explaination! Unlock car goes red to Amber then start car it's on orange normally then goes green once started! Yea makes sense alarm cause if unset alarm with keys in goes from new lights to a full dash from what can remember

martysmartie 07-12-2010 05:29 PM

It could well be this causing the problem then, especially as you say it's problematic, I guess it's an immobilizer as well? Is the LED doing what it normally would do?

martysmartie 07-12-2010 05:47 PM

I had a similar prob with mine, had no dash lights or anything just totally dead, after checking everything it turned out to be a dodgy connection on the + wire on the black connector under the cowling. this may not be the fix as you have sidelights but worth checking.

hope you get it sorted
