Default S2 welding

Hi all ive just bought a red s2 and needs a bit of welding both the sills need doing, one rear arch and inner arch also the chassis legs need welding. My questions are
  1. How easy is it to do the chassis rails
  2. how much does any one reckon this lot of work may cost me
  3. Can anyone recommend sumone to do the work as im looking to keep car for a long time and im based in essex

I can imagine it would cost you a hell of a alot. Also, if you are paying someone to do it, (like a garage) its a safe bet it will be bodged just enough to get it through 1 MOT.

The chassis rails are pretty easy as the are just box section, I'd say the sills are more difficult to do. Have a look at my resto..

and it has needed more wedling since

Sills are straight forward, i would prefer buying an entire sill and cutting the bit you need off then stitch it in. Saves pulling the hole lot off the car and damaging the probably alright sections.

The chassis legs are a cunt, they are double skinned around the spring seat so would patch nicely. removing the hole lot really fucks the boot/car floor and just isn't a very nice job.

You are probably looking at 5-600 quid for the welding or a grand for a really really decent job (ie, car restoration company).
