Default stupid lights GRRR help please

right basically ive had this happen on 2 of my cars but the last one i sold without fixing the problem

the thing is i put the lights on (first turn) sides and tiny amount of dip beam comes on then i put dip beam on and all thats left on is a dim side light yet full beam still works ????

ive changed the bulbs and ive changed the flasher relay and the switch inside the car itself ive checked the fuses and all of them seem fine changed the ones which looked a bit iffy but cant think what else it can be :S can any one help????????

must be a simple solution just me being blind or stupid or both!

any help asap would be great thank yooooooooou

our old sierra did something similar, turns out the contacts on the rear light had corroded themselves together, shorting it out. Cleaned them up, and all was good

I had the same problem it turned out that one of the wires that leats to the negative terminal on the batt had fallen out and was in the engine bay you couldent even notice it was missing .

Mine had the exact same problem, and it's common on all mk4's AFAIK- it's a bad connection in the fusebox melting the wiring and dipbeam relay (if you pull the relay out you'll probably see it's burnt from the heat).

I found moving the relay about would restore the connection, but it would keep failing. Only cure was to bypass the affected part with new wiring and relay.
