Default fuel pump relay

i bought a pink rely frm a local parts shop. he said its for a rs turbo.. but when i looked at the numbers on it.. it was different to my knackered relay,, the car starts with it but u the pump only whines after the car turs over,, when my old one whined at the 1st turn on ignition as usual!

what relay could this be then? s1? car does seem tobe abt more fuely i think!

there is no way a fuel pump relay would make a car more fuely!! if the car runs fine with it whats the problem?? i would not worry about the part number when i worked in a dealer there part numbers changed from time to time

k, its just that i have to give it a bit more longer to turn,, as the pump only whines when the car starts.. before i had no problems,, fuel pump kicked in on ignition. jus dont wanna cause any damage. the pat number on the rely box is different to my old one to.

Sounds like it's not priming to me, which is why it takes longer to start.
It wont be a S1 relay as they are twice the size of a S2 one and are white!

Try repairing your old relay. Open it and you'll usually find a knackered solder joint. It's pretty old skool electrics so easy to fix...

Keep an eye out on e-bay.
I paid £35 for a brand new one after having bought 3 second hand ones... and each was tempramental! Best thing i ever did buying a new one.
Starts on the button every time. So, if it still concerning you, look on e-bay and ask the seller wot numbers are on top.
