Question gear change is like stirring soup

hi my s2 gear change is slack and has loads of free play in it im told that that is a common problem but can be fixed i had a look on ebay and found a bush and spring kit

ebay number 380129608624


is this the correct thing for the job and is it fairly straight forward to fit any tips

it should be striaght forward if you have a decent ramp and a bit of mechanical knowledge

dont forget this kit will not fix the worn bushings on the selector rods that are one of the main causes for poor gear change.

The standard linkage is still available from Ford AFAIK and is only around £30.

i got a b&m quickshift, but it was still sloppy when i got the car, so i had a look and all the bolts holding it on was loose and the bush on the selector link going to the gear box was proper loose so i got the pin out and put a nut and bolt with washers on, and thats done the trick for now

yes this is the easy fix but it will come loose and go again.

tried getting these and they have to be ordered and no eta and they are £34 each selector.

maybe not with a locking nut but mine still wasn't right even with a bolt and nut configuration.

Hi!

Linkage only? not the whole selector?
I believe i have selector bushings or mechanism worn.
