Is there a certain way to fit rear wheel bearings on an rst??? lol

im on my second set in 3000 miles and their grinding already??
either that or is there anything that can kill them quickly?

Have you over tightened them?

You are meant to tighten them up to a torque and then back then off ever so slightly from memory before fitting the split pin.

yeah thats what ive been doing, i just cant work out why they keep cacking up!, doing my head in now! lol

are you changing the race and the bearing? what grease are you using? are the dust caps sealing?

yeah the whole lot. using the grease that comes with the bearing kits!

the dust caps have seen better days.. but they still go on tight.

2 things as already said
1.Make sure you use loads of grease
2.Make sure you follow the correct tightening up procedure.
Unless the bearings are made in darkest china out of recycled coke cans they should do 20,000 miles at least

i must have got some coke can ones i think! lol

I shall have to get myself some more and give it another go. and see what happens. just a pain in the arse having to change them again

sorry to hijack but i got the same problem.

i only done 700 miles on the rear one i changed and its is not allowing the wheel to spin freely now. took the drum round my mates garage and got him to do it, all done proper. all i can think of is i over tightened the drum to the hub? i didnt know what the torque setting was so just done it till it felt secure.

yeh, keep at it mush! its an rs after all! try some better quality ones? i think i managed to get some genuine about 18 months ago???

Are you packing the bearing with grease before installation? You should force grease into the bearing buy pushing it in through the rollers with your fingers. It should be full of grease.
