my main light stalk that hold the indecators n what not just burnt out,

can anyone tell me why?

just started to smoke real bad

sounds like dodgy wiring to me pal, i,ve had 4 mk4 escorts & that never happend to any of them.

yeah maybe so, not sure why it would burn out there tho, funny that all the wireing is fine and its not triping out any of the relays or fuses.

an old one of mine did this, it was parked up outside a mates house when my son came in and said the lights were on on the car. went outside the alarm was going off and smoke was coming from the switch. never disconected a battery as fast in my life. i was told by a mate that the light stalk shorts out

yeah i've just spoken to someone from ford, Who knows his rs's and cossies, said its a fair commen thing to happen on fords, They say when on full beam the light sometimes over loads and burns out.

And he also told me that its just a falt with the stalk and not the wireing, as the stalk burnt out, he asked questions and told him my main lights work n not my rear lights, brake lights work so means that it wont be an doddgy wire just it shorted because of heat from the relay on the back of the stalk, Asked where it burnt out and just need to replace it..

Hes had lots with the problem, so got a new one on its way

should be good to go..
