Default Weak floor pans on all RS Turbo's

I read on Adrenaline forum that the RST has a weak floor pan

Is there a way of making it stiffer without fitting a roll cage?

I would ask them for little more info.

I ran 350 odd Ibft through a good rust free shell and have had no issues, so I am a little confused by this.

Perhaps they mean in a crash.

I think it means that it twists a lot when on a track?

Of course, it is just a normal Escort shell. No different to a Cossie though IMO.

If you jack an Evo up on one corner, by the time you have the wheel a inch or two off the ground you'll have 3 wheels off the ground!!

However, if you jack a Cossie or an RST up on one corner, you'll be lucky if you can still open the door!!

Neither were designed with structural rigidity in mind.

You could brace the chassis in various ways, but a cage really would be the easiest in the long run.

Escorts are like paper iv had about 4 of them and im currently driving a s2 and it is solid but when you jack it up the doors dont open and shut properly The same goes for all the escort iv owned and iv crashed 2 of them, and thay got to be one of the worst in a crash they just fold ( dont put your kids in one) i would agree with what you have heard THERE WEAK AS FCUK

I cut out the inner sills on both sides, and had them seam welded in with new ones, and that seems to have helped a lot! Doors open and close when jacked, and as soon as u startto lift one side, the whole side lifts.

The frame connectors that Danny B does would work wonders imo.

at the minute i drive an xr3i mk4 with gaz coilovers and a 6 point roll cage, I will be getting an rs turbo next yr and putting the suspension on that, however I wont be fitting the cage.

Im assuming from whats being said above, that the handling wont be anywhere near as good as the car with a cage?!

I noticed a massive improvement in the cars rigidity when the cage went in. Really surprised me how soggy a non caged shell feels.
