Default S1 and S2 header tanks. are they the same?

A mates S1 rst header tank is in very poor condition.


is a S2 one the same, or any other escort model's?

No they are different.

You can use either one though.

doesnt s1 header tank have a coolant level sensor in the side?

think a series 1 has a level sender in and the s2 doesnt, also the 90 spec s2 one, is a diff shape.

Another difference. S1 has a push twist cap and the S2 has a screw cap.

If you can find a new S1 tank, it'll cost you about £350!! They sell for fortunes!!

There was one on ebay the other day, stopped watching it at £217

yep you can still get the header tanks from fords or ebay for that matter

I have a couple of second hand tanks that are in what i deem good/very good condition.

Even new ones aren't very transparent, and these have very little discolouration/crazing on them etc.

Apparently if you put them in the dishwasher, they come up nice and new.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've found best way to clean them is some sort of kitchen stain remover, with either rice or m4 nuts inside, Shake, leave for a few days and do again.
That get rid of the dirt, but wont cure a header that the plastic has discolour'd.

Nah chav man thats the old tank, the new one is in the car in the other pic, but yes they aren't that clear at all.

That is Tectyl. A wax coating which is designed to protect electrical terminals agains corrosion. I spilt a bit here and there!
