Non starting S2.
Having a few troubles with the S2.
Was sitting in the car with it on idle, when it suddenly cut out. Immediately checked fuel and it was showing just off the quarter so no issue there.
Tried to start the car, no luck, just turned over and over.
Tried it on one instance, and it fired up, then immediately died again.
Towed it home and tried it agian today, where it fired up, i managed to rev a bit then it died again, and just turned over as it did before.
I thought it may be the alarm cutting the fuel pump, but surely it wouldnt fire up at all if no fuel was getting in?
What could be causing this? Faulty pump? Alarm? fuel rail? fuel pump relay?
Anything i should be checking first off to rule out etc?
cheers

Wee update.
Had a look at it today an the fuel pump does not prime at all.
When i turn the ignition on, i usually hear a prominent noise from the pump, now there is nothing, no buzz at all so i think this could be the problem.
Easy to change?
Cost?
Could it be the relay? where is this/what does it look like etc?

before u buy a new relay bridge the terminals in the connector the relay plugs into if the pump then primes u know ur relay is fucked
if there is nothing wrong with ur relay then then it could be a spark problem the hall sensor ontop of the dizzy are well known for breaking down and wont let the car start so check if u have spark to the dizzy if so then see if u have spark from the dizzy to the plugs if theres no spark between the dizzy and plugs its more than likely the hall sensor has died

Ok.
I now know for sure it is not the alarm stopping the fuel pump operating.
Ive whipped the relay out this morning, how would i go about bridging the terminals? (Pretty novice mechanic here, give me it in simple terms )
How would i go about checking the engine is getting a spark too?
Cheers

bridging the relay is done by putting a short piece of wire against one terminal then the other end of the wire against the other terminal so you are completing the circuit.
check the engine is getting a spark by taking a lead off a plug resting it on the rocker cover then try turning the engine on.
