are there any holes in your block, i done the
same thing once and it spat a conrod through the
side of the block, the cambelt also jumped and
bent a few of my valves and beat the tops of the
pistons quite badly
the only thing you can do really is check the engine
over for obvious signs of damage and maybe do a
compression test on all the cylinders, failing that
you will probably have to strip it down for further
inspection.
hope its nothing too serious mate.

Sorry, sounds like a lot of bent valves TBH. Best bet would be a compression check, which I suspect will come up as no pressure. Then a head-off job and a THOROUGH check of everything for damage, no matter how minor.
Make sure you put a new belt AND tensioner back on afterwards though, no matter what.

and it was still timed up properly or had it jumped teeth,??? as it sounds like if the camshaft is solid that it has jumped teeth and bent some valves or possibly snapped the camshaft

@ Maxxeh: How did you try and turn the camshaft? By hand? Socket? The camshaft will be able to turn, or you would have stripped all the teeth on the belt when it went as the engine would have had drive still from the wheels.
If you turn the head upside down, you will see that all the valves are not quite in line with their respective holes. You need to remove each valve in turn and with a new valve, see how easy it drops in the guide hole. If it is easy, chances are the guides are okay, if it sticks, might as well throw the head as it'd be cheaper to replace than repair. Look @ each piston in turn and see which ones have marks in them from valve contact. It will be reasonably obvious, a 1/2 inch line max., slightly curved on the outer 1/4 of each piston, possibly 2 per piston if all 8 valves have touched.
Personally, I'd buy 8 new valves, even if only 4 are bent (it ain't worth the risk of a valve head dropping later under power), new set of stem seals, check the cam for significant damage and try a rebuild.

right, i can confirm that the valves are bent. will the camshaft still be o.k?
im going to stick the old head back on. so that should sort that problem out. However, i got a dent on each piston, where the valve may of hit. wil it still be o.k to use pistons?
Cheers.
