Help with fuel pump guys-BLOODY CAR!!!
Hi Guys
Ive had my turbo'd bonus running, but it wouldnt idle and took ages to start.. So checked all my breather hoses and found a couple werent tight at all(rocker cover ones) So used some jubilees instead and went to start her tonight. It struck up straight away and began to idle then just cut out. Turns out that the brand new fuel pump(from Auto Specialists) has stopped working? It just makes a slight thud noise now. So, to start with ive made sure it isnt the pump itself-I attached the minus terminal to the minus on a battery and then put a wire on the positive terminal of the pump-when i go to put this wire then to the positive terminal on the battery, its sparks like hell and no noise from the pump-does this mean my brand new fuel pump is knackered already?
What baffles me is i thought that the positive terminal on the pump would be the bigger of the two as well, but the earth terminal(-) is actually the larger one despite the + wire being the thicker? This cant be right can it? Is there a posibility i have had the wires the wrong way round?
Please help guys, its doing me head in!

Yer i had one of these pumps! The - terminal is the bigger. The one way valve was also fooked on my pump. So i gave up and fitted my old one in the end! That sorted all my problems. Was well annoyed at the expenses tho

Connect to either one and it should work one way.Done this on mine the other night when i was getting no fuel out of the pump.Connected the terminals from the battery to the pump with 4 metre long wire.It buzzed ,but no fuel.(AIR LOCK).Had to keep it buzzing for about 40 seconds until fuel gushed out all over my face.
If you get no buzzing then your pumps f*cked.Send it back.
