Default cutting baffles out

what performance affect does cutting the baffles out from the back box have on a car(apart from being a bit loud)

and would this affect the turbo as surely there would be less back pressure

Not really going to make a lot of difference at all, possibly if you were looking to go one better than Christians car, but still probably not

Been there, done that.

Don't think it'll make much difference power-wise. And regarding the sound... Well, I've removed all the glass wool from a std silencer once and it wasn't loud at all. Most people wouldn't have noticed a big difference I think. It's quite amazing how much of the noise is absorbed by the turbocharger.

Unlikely you'll kill it, but you'll get blue smoke and obviously will lose engine oil.

There are ways around it but standard turbos dont always beneift from big bore exhausts.

lol nah that would be bad!

I recall hearing about the T2.5's on FRST having seal issues when larger exhausts were fitted!

Just wasnt aware of how the problem was cured!

Different turbo's have different seals, there are T3's that have the carbon seals or whatever they are called, but RST ones use the dynamic seal, so its basically a piston ring, and simple physics keep the oil in place (exhaust pressure exceeding the oil pressure to contain it)

bigger bore exhaust = less pressure in the exhaust than the oil pressure, which in turn = oil leaking through the seal

A step gap seal means there is no direct gap through the seal
