Koni's aren't made to take that amount of lowering. Escort's don't benefit from it either.

30mm!!

I agree that 60mm is too much. Especially for a lot of town driving..poor surfaced roads and pot-holes all over the place. Bumpy roads..etc.

You'll need uprated springs to get the best out of them if you wanted ot lower it. Standard springs will make it sit too high and would undo the work the Konis did.

I'll be lucky if my RST isn't a pile of cornflakes on the ground by the time I'm 35.

By lowering it that much your putting the damper under permanent compression, which its not designed to do.

After a while during use the oil heats up the gas making it either lose its compression, so the damper no longer works effectively, and off you go bouncing down the road looking like a twat, or in some cases it expands the oil and breaks the seal and leaks everywhere.

Steels can look seriously tough, the Vee Dub boys know what I mean

I've had experience of an RST sitting -60mm and then -30mm...... drove terrible at -60 but you could say it was almost worth it for the looks

Never sacrifice how it drives purely for the looks if the handling is that bad. What good is a top motor parked up gonna be if it's in a hedge the first time you get on a B road? Compromise is where it's at. You want it slammed at a show or as you cruise past? Get airbag suspension or hydraulics. You want it to be able to safely drive along a road..compromise.

The steelies *could* look good partly polished. Or if the centres were cut out & turned round so they became deep dished. Seen it before on a Mk1 or 2 Escort I think it was. They were different style tho. Only had 4 spot welds holding the centre in place originally. Cut them off, turned them around and welded the whole centre. Totally transformed the look of the wheel.
