Lol t'was a joke mate, linked to that other thread
Have you got pre-load on the actuator? Can you hear the turbo spooling even if theres no boost showing on the gauge?

lol just read it what do u mean by preload, i cant hear the turbo but its pretty lowd inside with all the noise from the exhaust, it runs like a really slow xr3i, the boost gauge goes up to 0 and thats it

If the wastegate has no preload on it, it won't be sealed closed and the exhaust gasses will leak through, and you won't get any boost.
After an interesting series of events with cabriolet after rebuilding the turbo, test drive time came, and i had no boost.
(forgot to connect the actuator to the wastegate )
you should be able to hear a standard T3 spinning in a noisy car

lol the actuator is connected to the wastegate and ive adjusted the rod, (shortening it to raise boost) but still nothing
the old turbo i could only get to run 6psi with wastegate fully adjusted

Can you adjust the actuator up anymore then?
Or try running a pipe directly from the compressor housing to the actuator, and block the return to the air box so its not an air leak.
BE CAREFUL though, just incase it tries to boost really high!

Yes, but to be perfectly honest if you've got the actuator adjusted that far the AMAL valve must be the problem!
Seriously though, its probably going to try and boost very high so be cautious!

right, ive tried runnning a pipe from the actuator to the compressor housing, and blocked the one from the air box but it still isnt boosting
ive tried removing the pipe to the actuator and is still not boosting. this might be a real dumb question but is ther any chance the wastegate could be the opposite to the norm, ive shortened the rod to increase boost,
the car had trouble starting but now it wont start atall

You've got something wrong there mate
If the wastegate worked the opposite way your actuator would have to be something very special indeed?!
Its definately shortening the rod that increases boost, if it didn't boost with no pipe on the actuator.........?! then im stumped?!

take the pipe of the actuator and then see if it boosts because with no air to the actuator the wastegte will stay closed but be cearfull because it will boost like crazy so watch the gauge it that works get a new actuator.
is it the 1 tha u can open up and change the inturnals ?

what i mean is the rod could have been bent some how he has fully adjusted it up but if its bent surly its not going to close properly? or the diapram is split in the casing

Your thinkin about it the wrong way mate, boost operates the actuator and opens the wastegate.
so therefore, no pipe on the actuator/no boost pressure/split diaphram/bent actuator rod will all just cause the turbo to boost as hard as it can until the weakest link in the chain lets go

rihte lets start back at the beging he is not boosting thats because the turbo is not spooling up properly witch sgests that the waste gate is open causung the gasses to leak away befor it gets cance to spoll up proerly so its got to be eather a naked actuator or fucked amalvalve

Yeah i know that!
But going by what hes said, hes fully adjusted actuator to its limit, as short as the rod will go = loads of pre-load so the wastegate should be firmly shut!
Hes run the car with no pipe connected to the wastegate so as it goes it should boost forever until something lets go and breaks.
The only thing i can think of..........is maybe hes spun the wastegate round the wrong way, and then connected the actuator rod to it. They are a bit pants in that respect

Hopefully thats what it is, nothing else can logically stop a turbo spinning.
Although if i do say so myself you would have to be a bit of a muppet to do that
I'll piss myself now if thats what hes done

lol at u guys, i aint gettin no medal! the turbo was brand new, i didnt play with the wastegate like that.
on the way to work i got a missfire and coulnt start again, it got towed into work, i done a compression test and found cylinders 1) 75 psi 2) 80psi 3)125psi 4)122psi
SO, instant thoughts came to mind, headgasket, rings or burnt out valve, whilst removing head i found 1 head bolt loose then removed head etc, gasket had been fuked between oil and water way. have sent head down for a check and skim, checked rings and found to be badly worn, am replacing rings on tues.
hopefully the RS should be good after all this, have replaced gearbox, turbo, cambelt in the last month
cherz guys for all the help and the sarki comments i will keep u informed
