Default Water Tempture Gauge

My water tempture gauge keeps going right to the top

When i tap the top of the dash with my hand it goes back down to where it should be

Anyone got any idea's???

sounds like its earthing out somewhere , probably on the flexible printed circuit on the back of your clocks

Sounds like a bad earth mate,i had this after a mouse helped its self to my wiring! Scares the life out of you when it happens dont it?

same thing happens when you remove the sender wire from the sensor and earth it - happened to me at the strip , ended up running half the strip in neatral listening for broken engine noises!!!

sounds like your wiring on the backof your clocks are knackered

Just keep tapping the dash and all will be good then

you will need a new water temp sender they do this when they are damage and need replaceing

When i had a look at the temp sensor is was really rusty

But why when i tap the dash does the gauge work???

water temp switch was really rusty??
have u had anti freeze in all year round? this usually keeps your engine clean

Always got anti freeze in it mate it was rusty where the plug goes on

I'd say a fault on the clocks myself, since when has punching the dash ever affected a sensor in the engine bay?!

Thats a dumb ass suggestion
