my bottom end needs rebuildin but if it needs to all come out i might as well just buy a good second hand complete engine and get it swapped over save on the labour costs of takin the head off etc

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
whats wrong with it??
You can fit new pistons rings and bearings if you take the head off and sump. thats if ur bores are nice.my friend did it to his starlet and it was fine after.

It Wasnt Me!
if your gonna take the engine apart, it's jus as easy to take it out than to gaze up at it on a ramp and fuck your neck, you wont need to take the head off if you want to do jus the bottom end, but i'd want it off to inspect and renew the gasket if I was sorting the bottom end!
look out for a good 2nd hand engine if you cant get yours re-built for a reasonable price, maybe a freshly built one from a reputable place, dont wanna buy a so called GOOD one if its crap!

my engine was rebuiled without taking it out, only the sump and head was off. But the crank and the block should be in good condition, everything else can be done
