Default boostdrop after gearchange....??

After my problem with my turbo on my ZVH engine i've come across the next problem.

Did a quartermile sprint this weekend and i noticed that after i've changed gears it takes a while before i get ful boost again. This takes about half a second.
What could be causing this??

I've got a cosworth 4x4 intercooler at the front with a tube above the i/c to get the air back to the charge carrier side ... could this be to long??? i've already got a reverse charge carrier to shorthen this traject..!
But would this solve my problem..

Thanx again!!

Wel.. when i'm doing above 3500 rpm when i'm in next gear i don't expect as much lag as i'm getting (it's not building boost or something, but just staying the same revvs it seems ) ... well anyway... and yess.. i've got a dumpvalve on it....

Take dump valve off and see what happens, i'll be VERY suprised if you don't notice a difference.

Otherwise as said at the top, turbo lag

run a small shot of nitrous then you will Eliminate that problem, i run nitrous purely for drag racing spools up the turbo Instantaneously between gear changes

That's fine on a big-spec car, but to cover up a problem that to most isn't really a problem, I wouldn't suggest it.

Mine doesn't use NOS and still has 2-Bar by just over 4000rpm.

but then bring nos into the Equation and have 2-bar by 3000rpm will make your car faster over the 1/4 mile

dump or blow off valves are not needed for any of the t series turbos unless you run a t4 they dont produce enough back pressure, and they are as tough as old boots unlike the gt series turbos

Maybe look at a different turbo... gt(something) rolllerbearing or anti-lag. Just a suggestion.

gt series turbos are the bollocks i've ran one for the last three years, low lag they move a huge amount of air.you have to run a dump or blow off valve with these due to the thin shaft.only problem to repair them you have to get a new core which is not cheap

Well, just took of the dumpvalve.... and got out on the street...

Could't really test it because it's a bit rainy over here and as soon as the turbo spins so do the wheels so it'll spin up quiker now anyway....

Hopefully a bit dryer tomorrow for some more testing but i don't think it wil make a big difference....

couldn't the long airintake be a couse of this all./...... otherwhise it's nothing else but TURBOLAG>>>>

tested it today.... when i'm high in revvs and change quick the wheels spin in 2nd andn boost is there instantly. When it does't spin it drops in revvs more and takes a while before it picks up properly.....

I hate LAG....

I got one from CTS, shipped to Holland. no probs. only downside is paying for the shipping costs which is quite high considering the weight, and you pay extra for doing an outright purchase.
however, you will get a very decent box that will take alot of abuse

Hej Arjan,

What stage of box have you got?

What are the total costs if i may ask?

If it's to expencive to send i'll just have to pick it up there

Well.. got the aluminium rad. and cts box in for a while now but i'm stil not happy with that turbo....

really want to get some decent boost @ arround 2500 rpm or so.
i've got a stage 3 turbo now ( 0.48 exhaust hausing, cosworth comp. wheel , 360 degr. bearing )
Whould it be better for a quicker spin up to put on a standard turbine and housing ( 0.36 ).
Doesn't have to run silly amounts of boost, arrond 18 psi.
Or just go to all standard Turbo ( for now ) wich spins up quick enough ( so i've heard ) on a ZVH engine.

Thanks
