air lock in coolant
 

how can i bleed the air out of my coolant system i have an airl lock???? its a series 2 rs turbo?????

it's self bleeding mate, providing there isn't a blockage in header to stat housing hose.

Other thing u can do is bring her to temp with cap off, then let it cool totally with cap off. Then top up if needed and should be totally bled.

i can hear bubbleing from the tank when i swithch off so this must mean there is air in the system right????? the engine has been out and replaced so every hose has been off. so i just take the cap off and run it right????

No mate - they nearly all bubble - it's because of the turbo, the water in it boils when u turn off, and so bubbles to the header tank.

As Rick says mate they all bubble mine does it too when i've just turned it off

oh o.k, cheers for that. I have never noticed it on my old engine and my temps are a bit higher than they use to be hence me asking how to bleed the system of air. Thanks for you replys, i will run it with the cap off just to be sure. :)

I always re-fill my coolant with the small thin hose off the thermostat housing and leave the cap off till it gets upto temp, also remember to put the hose back on when water pisses out :top: never had a prob that way.

well i left the cap off and run it to temp, a big bubble came out after a while and the excess air came out and some coolant spilled. Then it settled back down and i toped up. Now its fine :banana: thanks for the advice chaps. i filled the coolant a few days before i started the engine i think thats why the air must have traped.
