I'm changing the gear box in my Escort RS turbo and it says in the magical book of Haynes that I need to replace some snap rings on the drive shafts or something???

Any ideas, oh and if theres anything else i should know feel free to tell me, cheers

yeh when you pull the driveshafts out of the box, you will see a clip that fits in a groove on the end of the driveshaft splines-pop these off and replace them, mere pence from Ford

Not the end of the world if you don't replace them IMO. Shame as (as said above) they are only pence, but as you don't have them and want to get the job done, don't worry!!

Alternatively, perhaps a driveshaft gaitor kit from somewhere like Halfords will have them in along with new hub nuts, which may be useful??

I never knew that!! I've had shafts out loads of times and never replaced them

I'd say in reality they will be fine to re-use i've never had any problems
